Tarl Warwick who is a very astute political commentator definitely seems to think so (video linked below). Warwick is commenting on the news that Rep. Liz Cheney's assertion that she expects criminal charges to come out of these proceedings. Warwick views that as unlikely and I tend to think he is likely right though in the witch hunt political climate of today I certainly can not rule that out.
Whatever you may think of what happened that day, or of former President Trump, the way these hearings are conducted should give you pause. For example, Cassidy Hutchinson's testimony about Trump allegedly trying to wrest the control of his vehicle out of the driver's hand, likely bulletproof partition or two notwithstanding, has not been challenged in those proceedings.
Frankly, this reminds me of Stalinist show trials where alleged "enemies of the people" were alleged to have done things that were physically impossible, including conspiring to fire heavy artillery from rooftops. Sounds like Trump is being subjected to the same sort of treatment, albeit without a threat of being handed a death penalty by a secret panel without a right to appeal. So the tragedy of those trials may be playing out in front of our very eyes, albeit in a rather harmless fashion (at least at this point). So once again, a tragedy of yesteryear is playing out as a farce.
And no, I am not saying there can not possibly be justified criminal charges against President Trump. And as a firm believer in equality before the law I am all for him being appropriately charged, on the strength of adequate evidence. However, at this point it seems quite clear that the Congressional Committee lacks anything even approaching proper evidence for any such charges. And all we have is a witch hunt and a farce - and we need to uncover this farce before reality and any semblance of the rule of law falls victim to unreality, slander and star chambers.
