I am grateful for so many things, my existence so far, and my way of life. Everything about me makes me grateful. When I look at the way some people are living, I realize that not everyone has the privilege to live the kind of life I am living. Being literate, the ability to understand and be able to interpret and assimilate, being able to improve personally, all of these even though I still look up to those who have them in abundance than I do, but I am way better at some others.
I can't say how many times I have repeated this story about my journey to web3, but it’s always fresh in my head everything I remember. When I was in my first year in the university, things were not easygoing but still bearable to some extent, yet I wanted a better life.
I have always spent most of my time on web2 applications like Facebook, Instagram, and the like. Then at some point, they monetized those platforms and then I realized that I have been wasting my time if I didn't get a way to earn from those platforms.
The perfect timing showed when my brother introduced me to steemit and explained how he made his first earnings through blogging. I felt inspired and then requested to be onboarded. That became my eye opener and breakthrough into the web3 interface.
From there I was on the platform for a while and met with some friends but was still new and a novice to web3 and cryptocurrency then. This was around late 2017.
Up next was when my coursemate who happened to be my close friend challenged me for always on my phone typing and concentrating. I explained to him about the platform and then he showed interest in it. From there, he researched further about what cryptocurrency was and also got closer to his brother who was also into cryptocurrency. In no time he already has vast knowledge and experience about crypto than I do.
As my friend, I quickly clinched closer to him and gained more experience from him. He taught me how to trade, hunt for airdrops, and understand the difference between other web3 interfaces. I knew I was on the blockchain where I blogged. Then gradually I realized I am also knowledgeable about the cryptoverse.
My friend so much believes in the future of cryptocurrency, but as for me, I don’t. I will embrace every new way about cryptocurrency and web3, and learn more about it. But not fully dependent on it.
This is because the web3 and crypto space doesn't guarantee you any form of safety, you are always on your own and it also comes with first-grade risk-taking. The market volatility that can change your whole existence in the blink of an eye, remains so delusional to me.
Web3 looks promising, right from the play to earn games, crypto airdrops, crypto projects, blockchains, trading systems, and a lot more. If you want to have a nice time around all of these then you have to make sure you are very careful and always doing your research before diving into anyone. The more they are good projects, the same way there are a lot of scam projects in the web3 space. The choice is yours.
