If there is one thing I want to work towards, it is my emotional maturity. How do I work towards it? I want to make sure that my emotions does not overshadow my decision making.
Have you ever made any decisions based on emotions? maybe you angrily/happily made a decision that turned out bad or maybe turned out to be good.
I have experienced this multiple times and I won’t lie about the fact that it never ended well. I was crying a few months ago because I was broke and things doesn’t seem to go well with me.
Out of frustration, I smashed my phone on the floor and the screen got broken.
After I had smashed my phone on the floor, I mow started regretting why I did that and that put me in more debt because I had to fix my screen and if I didn’t fix the screen, my phone won’t work.
How did that made you feel?
I felt stupid because how on earth will I break my phone screen because I was broke. I could have literally thought that the phone screen will spoil if I smash it on the floor before doing that but I did it at first and started regretting it.
I felt sad and regretted why I smashed my phone on the floor at first. Since then, I was being careful to think well before I do something so my emotions doesn’t rule out the effect of my brain.
What lesson did you learn?
Our emotions have to do with our hearts while the role of decision making has to do with the brain. They have nothing in common so we should not mix them up nor let our emotions take place of what the brain is supposed to do.
What advice would you give an emotionally immature?
Be calm! Do not rush into things. Do not rush into making any decision. Before letting your emotions take over, ask yourself if you’re doing the right thing.
This may be hard but it’s something you just have to do.
Once you start doing that, you will realize that you’re doing the right thing.
