I must say this year there has been an intense natural disaster. And I would love to share one of the experiences that I encountered with the wildfire. That almost came close to my town.
This color of the sky was always orange. There has been a thick air around us with smoke. The news keeps warning us about the area and what the result of the weather might result to. At first we never believed but it was terrifying to us.
I heard it was getting bad when we started seeing the smoke coming from the horizon. But we didn’t expect it to spread fast. We thought it was a normal encounter. We were filled with reactions mixed with fear and started taking action. Our family had to go to the hospital. We had to take our cars, our belongings, our essential food, clothes and everything we have from there. And we left to a safe place. But relocating was really hard. We stayed under a shelter for days thinking if our home would survive.
But I found something in this. When we were at the shelter, we caught friends and even played with the strangers that were also homeless like us who stayed close to us. It reminded us that community can also shine during the darkest time.
So to prevent this huge loss, we are advised to clear and brush around our property. And sometimes the government always warns us that those dry bushes are what serve as fuel to lose fire. And sometimes we are also advised to have a fireproof safe place to secure our important documents and always know how to make our evacuation plan with our family.
My Survival Tips for Wildfires
So what was my survival tips? If a wildfire comes near, I don’t have to wait before I evacuate early. Sometimes you have to wear a mask to avoid those excessive smoke inhalation.
And if you are stuck, just find a clear area. You also have to take care of your distance from those village vegetation and try to stay low. And after, don’t rush back home until you are commanded or you know it is safe to go back home.
Those wildfires will really show you some really bad experiences. So experiencing those wildfires change how we view our life, it also taught me that we are also built to bounce back no matter the difficulty we are facing. If you are facing disaster or tight group and try to lean on others we have got this.
