Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #scifimultiverse community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompts culture.
Culture is people’s way of life; it also helps to identify people and their lifestyle. Everyone has a tribe they come from, and these tribes have a culture that they believe in, from their food to their dressing and their dos and don’ts. Every culture has its signature, and that makes them unique. One amazing thing about culture is that it is passed to us by our ancestors.
In my country there are many ethnic groups, but we have three main ethnic groups: the Hausa, Igbo, and Yoruba. These cultures are unique from their dressing down to their language. Each of these cultures has a language, and once you speak your language, it will be easy to know the tribe you are from.
I am this kind of person that one culture and I repeat people culture because this is what made them who they are. Our culture defines us from our greeting to our dressing and down to the food we eat. Most of this culture resembles each other, but there is always a unique thing that differentiates them.
During my days in school, most of my classmates thought I was Yoruba because of my surname. Whenever they wanted to communicate with me, they always used the English language. The very day they heard me communicating in Igbo, they were so surprised. Our culture is our heritage, and I don’t joke with it.
I am proudly from the Igbo; it is located in the southeastern part of Nigeria, and we are unique in the many cultures we practice here. Seriously, my love for my culture is top-notch; our food, dressing, and language are unique. When it comes to the Igbo culture, there are many festivals that we celebrate, and during this period, people that want to be in search of greener pastures come back home to celebrate this festival.
This month of August we have a festival coming up, which is the new year festival. People come from far and near to celebrate this festival. Many masquerades will come out and display in Igbo land. Before you eat new yam, you must go to the festival before you can eat any yam from your farm. This is a great festival for my people because they are grateful for a fruitful year.
There is this culture that my people hold up so tight: the masquerade festival. My people love this so much. This festival is always the reason I come back home every Christmas. Running from this masquerade so that they will not flog you is funny. There is this particular one that is called Adanma; it is known for its beauty and is also friendly.
Our culture is our heritage, our identity. Our culture plays a role in our lives; it helps to shape us because it guides our behaviours and expectations.
This is my entry on the ongoing content #scifimultiverse topic culture.
