Artificial Intelligence: AI, is the only song that has been on repeat in the digital world today. Starting from the smartphones on our hand , to our wristwatch down to our refrigerators at home. It was once a science fiction that we usually watch in movies back in those days, but if we look around us today, AI is no longer the movie or science fantasy. It has now become the reality we sleep and wake up with. But my question over the time is that, was all these a plan all along?
The primary design and plan behind AI was very straightforward yet deep and profound to allow machines imagine things just like we humans, to help us made difficult tasks very simple, and to assist and give solutions to mankind in a way that we want it to be. The AI was birthed in a place of ingenuity, inquisitiveness, curiosity and the desire to expand human ability past natural limits.
And In all honesty, AI has delivered exactly what it was created for. It can write, it can drive, it can speak using the exact human voice you want it to use, it can draw, it can translate from one language to another, it can give Ideas, it can solve problems, it can diagnose diseases, it can clean, it can be used during operation, it can drive cars, it can filter spam emails, you just name it. Even though AI has made a lot of people very lazy, yet it can analyse things very easily and faster than is why it is used for accessibility, security, automation and even personalization enhancement in the digital space. Imagine being able to answer very difficult questions in seconds, being able to communicate with others without fully understanding their language or learning it and being able to give precise analysis to a data with seconds. That is AI at work.
It has its own shadow just like every other power.
After the widespread of AI, the concerns that followed suit were real; surveillance, fake news, words misinformation, job displacement, digital deep-fakes and the most dreadful part where people are saying AI might over power humans in a way that they outthink us in manners we never imagined. Do not get me wrong, it not about AI totally overpowering we humans like we do see in those science fiction movies. It is about it silently modifying and altering it and we not observing the profoundness and deepness of what it has caused until it is too late.
So, what is my take and stand on this. I am standing right here in the middle like a defender and a striker. I believe AI is like a dog, it can protect the owner and same time attack the owner if there is a trespass. The duty and obligations lies not in the devic, but how we make use of it.
If I am powerful enough, I will not bring an end to the use of AI, but I will definitely make sure that it is regulated and not misuse. It will be regulated with humanity at the center coupled with ethics and wisdom.
Because, at the end of it all, we must always remember that we are human and to be sincere, this is the most intelligent thing we can do
