Growing up, I knew that machines obey commands. Even in elementary school then we used to sing:
"Computer is an electronic device that receive data, process data and give back information "
And that was all.
I knew a remote controlled the TV, I knew a phone made calls. But now machines thinkā at least try to, and they've even entered our sacred space: our imagination.
I believe AI was built initially to make life easier. It calculated faster, responds quickly and helps us with a burden of routines. But somehow it has become more than that, it started doing things only humans could initially do. It now write poems, can compose music, paint pictures, diagnosis etc.
At first I wondered if AI replaced humans completely and if human labour will be gone, and if our thoughts will be out-thought.
But then what if AI isn't really the bad guy? What if it's a mirror?
Because in reality, AI only learns from us. It reflects the things we do, our choices, fears, intelligence, and our flaws. AI don't invent itself, and it doesn't dream unless we teach it to.
In the digital space AI is both helper and a challenger, it helps to organize, analyze things and helps businesses to run smoother.
So would I stop AI if I had the chance? No! Rather I'll teach it what it really needs to know. I would teach it boundaries, ethics and kindness. I would build it with the humility that we sometimes forget to carry, I would ensure it learns also from our mistakes and not only the brilliance.
Yes AI has dangers to it but so does electricity, Internet , and we just can't stop those things just cause they have their bad sides.
What really matters is how we use this things and so is AI.
So I think we use try to use AI creatively and not let it take away our real creativity. I know how it feels when you get something done yourself without the AI, the feeling is just so different.
So just they way we used to remind the kids about the dangers too much screen time and indulgence to the Internet is, we also need to teach ourselves AI limits and let real creativity flow.
AI is a huge support undeniably, and I know there's no going back instead it'll keep improving. So we still need to watch out for the dangers because these days AI is doing so much more than help out with little stuffs, it's now raising a question of what's real and fake everyday. I just hope AI is used more for good than for the bad!.
