Hello, everyone.
I welcome you to my blog. Social media is one of the few things topping the charts today, and almost everyone on the face of the earth is actually a part of it; both adults and children own an account on one or two social media platforms. No doubt social media has made communication a lot easier than what we used to have. In those days we only depended on phone calls and, along the line, text messages to reach out to each other, but social media provided a more comfortable and better way. You can chat on social media with relatives and friends who are far away and get a reply in seconds as long as they have data and good network coverage.
With social media, we got options on how to reach out to each other. You can chat using text, make a voice note or clip, and there is an option for video calls and audio calls. With social media, how you want to reach out to family and friends is up to you to decide. Over the years there have been quite a lot of upgrades and improvements when it comes to the social media space; many who just joined recently will think it has been so since time immemorial, but it is not, as the continuous upgrades have made the use of social media more fun, more entertaining, and more enjoyable.
The fun of social media used to revolve around chatting alone, but over the years there have been upgrades, and today there is a section where you can watch short comedy skits. It also serves as a means of information; many of us don't see the need to watch the news anymore, as news travels even faster on social media than on TV these days, which is why many news channels now own a social media account on almost all the social media platforms.
The truth is that there are a lot of knowledgeable people you can learn from on the social media space, which is one of the reasons I support kids at certain ages joining the space, but it is quite disheartening how it is quite difficult to come across accounts that will impact them positively, but it is very easy to come across accounts that will lead them astray. It is easier to come across the likes of Saida Boj than to come across the likes of Shola, who does a lot of things on the social media space just to impact his followers positively. I don't know how the social media algorithm works, but it has always been like that; it is easier to come in contact with the bad sides of the social media space than the good sides.
As a result of being on social media, so many adolescents are putting themselves under a lot of pressure that has caused them to do wrong things, all because they feel others are doing well and they too need to do all that it takes to be on the same level. Sometimes they are even doing better than those they feel are doing well, but because those ones are living a flashy and fake life online, they jump into doing the wrong things. The social media space will always have an impact on the lives of users, but that impact totally depends on how the user uses the space and how they react to the things they see in the space.
