I welcome you to my blog. The rate at which the combination of science and technology has affected our world is something that words are not enough to express. When we look around us, we come to realize that science has indeed impacted every aspect of our lives as humans; it has left no single aspect of our lives untouched. When we meet our parents and grandparents and get to hear stories of how things were before now, maybe we would get to appreciate science and technology more; the combination of these two only brought about positive changes.
Today, we will be looking at how much the combination of science and technology has impacted the communication that we enjoy today. Trust me, if you hear stories of how bad communication was before now, you will come to realize that indeed science and technology did turn things around and made everything better. A combination of science and technology gave us access to a lot of things our forefathers never got access to; it made life a lot easier for us. When we compare life now and how it was before, we come to realize that things have really evolved.
In those days we completely depended on letter writing to communicate, reach out to loved ones, and even work-related matters, but in most cases these letters took months before they were delivered, and then we waited for even more months before we could get an actual response from the recipient of the letter we sent out months ago. There was a delay in communication; sometimes the letters sent out don't even get to the recipient, and we keep our eyes out on the lookout waiting for a response, and in the end we get none. Sometimes we get angry that our letter was received and they decided not to respond, but little do we know that they did not even get the letter.
I heard a story from my dad from when they were on a mission in Liberia: a fellow soldier wrote a letter to his wife in Nigeria that took over two months before it was delivered to her, and it took another two months before her response got to Liberia, but her husband was killed a few days after he sent out his letter, whereas the wife thinks he is hale and hearty and even went ahead to reply to his letter. If only communication was as good as what we have today, she wouldn't have even bothered to send out a reply because she'd know on time that her husband is no more.
Today, things are different. Science and technology have made it possible that we no longer have to wait for months before our message is delivered, and we get a response almost immediately. Science and technology have offered us multiple options to choose from when we want to send out a message. Unlike the days when we depended on letters and letters alone, today we have options like using different social media applications to send out our messages, phone calls, text messages, etc. So technology made communication a lot easier than what it used to be.
