I welcome you to my blog. Our world continues to evolve; science and technology combined have made it a duty to ensure that our lives as humans only get better and better. Technology and science left no stone unturned; they touched and impacted every aspect of our lives, ranging from transportation and communication to, most of all, education. Technology and science combined turned things around, and we all can see the impacts they have on all of the things listed above, but today we will be focusing on the changes that technology and science combined brought to our educational system.
When we hear stories from our parents about how things were when they attended school, we will come to realize that indeed science and technology brought about a lot of improvement. During the time of our parents, they used a slate and would lose whatever was taught because they depended on the slate (board-like) for all the subjects. I believe you need a retentive memory to actually survive that era. You lose whatever was taught the previous day to enable you to copy the one for the present day; now I am left wondering how they manage to read and prepare for exams.
Today, technological advancement alongside science has made books available for us such that we don't lose what was taught the previous day to get that of the present day. Now we have the opportunity to keep track and record everything from the start of the term/semester down till the end using our books. At least now we have materials we can use to read and prepare for exams. We also have the opportunity to save our study materials electronically in the form of PDFs and documents; this one we can carry with us everywhere and anywhere as long as we have our device with us.
Technology and science have also made it possible that we no longer depend on chalkboards like back in the day; now we have whiteboards where markers are used, and they do not have any negative effects on the sight of students like the days of chalkboards, where once it is no longer dark enough, students have to strain and stress their eyes to see what is written on the board. We also have smartboards and projectors at our disposal; these ones also make visuals and teaching and learning very easy.
Another impact of science and technology on education is in the aspect of carrying out research and getting an assignment done. In those days, one had to visit the library to get any research or assignment done, but science and technology have made it possible such that we can comfortably get any assignment or research done from the comfort of our rooms. We have artificial intelligence and the internet to provide us with all the answers that we need.
