Procrastination is a very deadly habit, it's really a time killer.
The habit of procastination is very deadly one, it's a deadly thief. It steals your time little by little, it's a process.
Back as an undergraduate , I had the habit of attending to my assignment or projects a day before submission, I have the time, I know what to write, I have even made my research and have the resources to execute it but it was just an habit to start penning it few hours before submission. That was the early stage of dealing with procastinating habits.
I never thought it was going to be an issue until I started working, as a secretary and an admin staff in a school, I always had a task on my desk, with deadlines.
I went through alot to deal with the habit of procastination .
My boss was a no nonsense lady, I had sleepless night, learnt to work with alarms, dealt with the confidence that I use to have back in school, that I would stay up all night and execute the task.
Even my friends, knew how bad it was, I could tell them that I would be visiting and I won't show up , throughout the day,it was that bad .
I would like to share some tips on how to deal with procastination that works for me;
1 . One way of dealing with procastination is limiting your activities and planing :
Limiting the activities you have for a particular day will keep you focused on the little one , focus on executing minor and important task. Make plans on how to go about your day.
Early this year I had a very long list of plans, that I got really confused on which to execute, immediately I limited my plan , they became handy and very achievable.
Limiting your plans, doesn't make you lazy, but focused.
2 . Have a daily to- do- list is very important:
Having a list of what to achieve daily was really a blessing to me, it made my work easy and achievable. I will recommend a to-do-list for everyone with a busy schedule, it will make your activities early and handy.
This is a very important step to dealing with procastination.
3 . Avoid Distractions:
Avoiding distractions will help you achieve your task easier,it helps you to stay focused and concentrate on what to do.
Avoiding distractions plays a major role in dealing with procastination habit.
4 . Focus on goals that are doable, achievable and attainable:
With strong determination and focus, you can deal with the habit of procastination, it's never to late to quit the habit of procrastinating. Focus on what is attainable and doable.
