I must say I was pretty intrigued about the blogging aspect. Not that I want to date myself, but I haven't blogged since the early days of Xanga... yikes! 😅
I'm have so many interests, I have(had?) no idea where I could get started again, maybe I'd post about my recent foray into cryptos, Splinterlands, and other blockchain games? Maybe I could blog about books, or knitting, or about how my kitty is the best kitty 😻 evah? Or about corsets, chainmail, scalemail, conventions and cosplay?
But I just remembered that I took some pictures this weekend of the incredibly fragrant and vibrant flowers that opened in my vanda basket on the balcony. Maybe they could be worth sharing with other orchid lovers?
What do you guys think, any interest in my still-young-but-rapidly(exponentially)-expanding orchid collection?
This is my vanda "community basket". I build it because I couldn't figure out where to put my 3 related vanda hybrids: Rhynchorides (Perreiraara) Bangkok Sunset, and 2 of its own hybrids, Perreiraara Rapeepath 'Pink' (Rhynchorides Bangkok Sunset x Vandachostylis Pine Rivers), and Perreiraara Tony Tan Keng Yam (Rhynchorides Bangkok Sunset x Vanda Wilas).
Turns out the Rhyn. Bangkok Sunset was misindentified though 😕, so I have 2 Perreiraara Rapeepath 'Pink' instead, and a bit less colour variation than I'd hoped for. But still, aren't they spectacular when in bloom? There's even a 4th flower spike starting, if you look closely at the plant at the front.

These spend all summer outside on our covered balcony, and in the fall and winter they are right near my brightest South window. These small vandas are really rewarding, they're still quite young, but they have been flowering several times a year, even initiating flower spikes in winter.
Too bad I can't share the scent, it's a sweet floral which is quite strong when the sun is out 🌺
Ok so I guess I got a bit wordy for my first post, oups! I'm looking forward to hearing what you guys think though 😊
