Hi Orchid Lovers. Since I joined this community I have included orchids in my photo hunts. Like today I was walking in the parking lot of one of the malls here where there is a plant and flower market. I have often visited this market in the past but I have never looked for orchids. My main interests were in succulents, cacti, sansevierias and flowering vines. But not orchids. Don't get me wrong. I like orchids. But I stay away from them because they are very expensive and require special care and maintenance - spraying insecticides, fungicides, fertilizers and shaded abode - all of which my wife and I would like to avoid. But this time I purposedly look for orchids and found one stall. I saw these on display there.
According to the saleslady these are Vanda Velthuis. I think the local term for this is Waling-waling. She said that some of these are hybrids as can be seen in the different color shades within the petals.
It was kind of difficult to get really good pictures of them because they were hanging down with their flowers facing downwards.
I was almost in a crouching position trying to take a frontal. The lady probably saw my discomfort and held one of the flowers up to help me get one.
There were other types of orchids on display too but that will be for my next post. For now let's stick to Vandas.
Hope you enjoyed this one. Thanks for visiting. Stay safe and healthy everyone.
