Some Girls Sing The Blues
Those of you who follow me at all know that A: I am a blues fan and B: that I really, really like Beth Hart. Her intensity of voice and video presentation really come through. She is currently paired up with Joe Bonamassa for some incredible concert performances. Here they are in a little different circumstances.
Beth Hart is current as a pandemic headline, but there have been girls singing the blues for a long time. I first heard of Saphire the Uppity Blues Women in the 80s, but they really tore up the 90s. 3 women from Washington DC one a nurse, one a school teacher and one a secretary who got together to play and sing the blues. They wrote some seriously great music like School Teacher Blues. Listen to the words carefully!
I know this will surprise you. I fell down the rabbit hole again. I believe this is the last Video from Saphire. It's a bonus today. Really, really simple and powerful. This is dedicated to my sister.
Koko Taylor is some kind of old school. Wang Dang Doodle is 'her' song. Here she performs it with Willie Dixon at an all star concert at Kennedy Center. She fronted a lot of musicians but probably none more than Willie Dixon who wrote the song.
Thanks to @bozz for the relentless pursuit of music. I appreciate it. #weeklyspins
