What's buzzing, friends?
There's no denying that being famous can have a big impact on both people and places. From the fans who flock to see their idols to the businesses that benefit from the tourism, there's no shortage of ways that fame can make a difference. But it's not all positive – there can be downsides to being in the public eye, too. Whether it's the pressure of living up to expectations or the 'paparazzi' effect of always being in the spotlight, being famous is not always as glamorous as it seems.
Take, for instance, Teletubbies. This TV sensation was massive back in the day. People would watch it non-stop. The happy little hill that the Teletubbies frolicked on was etched into the minds of all the people who watched it.
When the show ended in January 2001, the Teletubbies' home was removed, but the hillside, the real location, remained. This location gained an almost cult following of visitors who wanted to see the real-life Teletubbies land. They would trespass, run through cow fields and more, just to see this magical land. All this to the dismay of one Rosemary Harding, the landowner.
So, Rosemary one day had it with the Teletubbies fans and had the land bulldozed into a pond. Since then, the number of 'visitors' dropped off... but fame... fame impacts both people and locations... You can read more about this story here.
While we do not have a Teletubbies' hill for you to play on, we do have a lovely recap of this week's posts from D.Buzz you can read below! No trespassing needed.
