Top 5 Dos and Don'ts for Short-Form Social Media Content
Helloooo, fellow buzzketeers!
We hope your Tuesday is more energizing than a double shot espresso and you're feeling inspired to create some short-form greatness today!
Let's take a quick detour from our regular programming to talk about the top 5 dos and don'ts when it comes to crafting magical short-form content. We find that posts like this can really help inform new users of some ba-sic (see what we did there?) concepts to keep in mind.
While there are no hard and fast rules on what you can and can't do, some general pointers are import-ant to remember. Let's buzz into it and talk about 5 dos for stellar short form content!
DOs:
- Be concise and use short sentences. You only have limited space so get to the point fast like a bee buzzing between flowers.
- Use images, GIFs and videos when relevant. Visual content can help convey your message and make your post more engaging than a dance-off with Beyonce!
- Engage with your audience. Reply to comments, have discussions, and interact with other users. This builds community faster than a barn raising in Amish country!
- Use relevant hashtags and tags so your content is discoverable. Make sure they properly match your post topic, like peanut butter matches jelly.
- Post frequently and consistently. Stay active to build a following and audience for your content. Consistency is key like brushing daily for healthy teeth!
There are other general ideas to keep in mind too, like giving credit where credit is due, and tagging or crediting your sources. But we think most buzzketeers understand that already!
Now let's talk a bit about the don'ts for short-form social media.
DON'Ts:
- Don't make your posts too long. Stick to the short-form factor the platform was designed for, not a 10-season TV drama series!
- Don't overuse hashtags or tags. One or two relevant ones are enough. Too many looks spammy like a sketchy sales pitch.
- Don't only promote yourself or products. Mix in other valuable, non-promotional content. Give value, not just sales pitches!
- Don't pick fights or arguments. Stay respectful, positive, and take conversations privately if needed. Kill them with kindness like grandma's homemade sweets!
- Don't overpost or duplicate content. Quality over quantity, and don't spam your followers. Don't be that person who posts 10x a day about the same thing!
Like the dos, there are other major no-nos like plagiarizing that we think most buzzketeers already know to avoid like the plague!
So there you have it, our 5 dos and don'ts for crafting stellar short-form content!
What are your thoughts? Any other dos or don'ts you'd recommend short-form writers keep in mind?

Until next time buzzketeers, keep buzzing along and having fun! That's the biggest DO of them all. :)
