Once again, I find that it is 12:40 past midnight before I find myself having a moment to sit down and share a few words.
I'm not even sure I am "sharing" a few words, so much as just trying to empty my head of this-and-that before I head off to bed. Which, of course, pretty much is what a "Ulog" IS... I think.
The Golden Hour
The World is a Busy Place
I can't help but think that when we remark on how we "never have time" to do things, it's really a reflection of simply having agreed to take on too much; perhaps taking on too much in the original belief that we'd be able to handle more than can be reasonably expected.
Of course, that's not always true... sometimes we simply find that we are swimming in "slowly rising waters" that we have little control over. It's a bit like paddling your kayak up a stream on a sunny day, not knowing that there has been heavy rains 200 miles further inland , which is slowly making the river move faster and faster towards the ocean.
Maybe that's not a great analogy, but it's the best I've got, right now.
Anyway, it makes me kind of sad that I haven't had more time to keep up with my blogging here... but there's just "no time."
The view from here... at least during the day
Memories, Resurfacing — The Enneagram
Mrs. Denmarkguy asked me for some information earlier today that ended up sending me down a rabbit hole to times gone by.
I used to be an active student of The Enneagram, using it not so much as a "Personality Typing Tool" but as a personal and spiritual growth tool.
Whereas I have never been a big proponent of so-called "labels" (I think it's too easy for people to "hide" behind them), I did always find the spiritual side of the Enneagram very useful... perhaps because it centers on rigorous self-inquiry, rather than simply handing you answers on a plate.
Which makes me think about how often people expect to find "magic pills" to solve the problems of their lives... the idea of actually doing the WORK seems almost abhorrent, to many.
And yet? We pretty much all want the benefits of having done the work.
I'm thinking I might go back to writing life explorations as seen through the lens of the enneagram. Wonder if there are any Enneagram Enthusiasts in Steemlandia?
And So, There was a SoftFork...
I have been reading the plethora of posts concerning this latest update... which seems to have been implemented not only very quickly, but without many of the hitches of past changes.
I have also been reading the various laments concerning this "Soft Fork" ranging from the idea that a bad precent was set, to outrage at the fact that a relatively small handful of people can make major changes to the community without people knowing much about it, in advance.
It's not a popular point of view, I know, but consensus driven systems have a way of trending towards some unhealthy form of communism if the "decision tree granularity" is allowed to become too small.
Which is a fancy way of saying that when you have too much "decision making by committee and public opinion," NOTHING tends to ever get done.
I do believe our community's witnesses acted in everyone's best interest, given the very limited information available to them. I just hope that a potentially cooperational relationship with Tron doesn't turn into an adversarial one.
More golden hour leaves...
Barking Up Imaginary Trees...
I have always found it pretty amazing how people can "re-invent reality" to suit their individual lenses of perception... and then make outrageous non-correlating claims in service of reinforcing that reality.
What the HELL did I just say?
You have to be mental to actually think that Bitcoin took a nosedive because Steem's witnesses implemented a softfork... would you like a tinfoil hat, too?
(And yes, I did really see that somewhere in a comment, today...)
Anyway, it reminds me a bit of a different discussion Mrs. Denmarkguy and I were having the other day, about how people will go to great lengths to protect their carefully constructed "Personal Mythologies" from getting infiltrated by actual facts.
Sometimes, to such an extent that the simple facts are treated like personal attacks and insults.
Just something to ponder...
Thanks for reading! I need sleep...
