The Rhythm
Everything in the universe has a wave-like movement, of forward and backward motion. Scientists have already proven this tendency through the evolution of planets, stars, suns, and so on. Life has pendular movement and the process of birth, growth, development and death is repeated incessantly.

Thus, the fifth law of spirituality tells us that, everything flows and re-flows, everything has its periods of advance and retreat, everything ascends and descends, everything moves like a pendulum, the measure of its movement to the right is the same as that of its movement to the left, rhythm is the compensation.
This movement also appears in some way on the physical plane, even in the emotions. This means that both our moods and our thoughts also respond to this rhythm.
As an example, we can say that after a period of great sadness, grief or pain, another one follows full of great energy, happiness and satisfaction. To have stability, we have to learn to master this pendulum movement to avoid dragging towards the unwanted polarity.
The principle is very much related to the previous one, that of Polarity. At each end of the pendant we can place one of the opposite poles and thus we see clearly how we oscillate from one end to the other. We rarely reach the full extremes. Our pendulum oscillates in various degrees and thus we reach a certain happiness and sadness.
At this rate the Kybalion defines it as compensation. When a person is at the pole of sadness, he must know that at some time life will take him to the pole of joy, whether he wants it or not. The deeper the first, the greater the second, and the rhythm will always begin with the negative pole.
The principle of rhythm also warns us that the moments of happiness or success are not permanent, sooner or later, the pendulum will lead us backwards and then forwards again.

This does not mean that one has to lose what one has achieved, but it is necessary to know that the period of growth or bliss is not constant. So, we must prepare ourselves by taking full advantage of the good times, until we learn to manage the principle of rhythm at will. For example, if I am living a moment of economic growth, I will have to take advantage of it to save some of that money for when the economy is not so favorable to me.
There are cases in which people seem to have got stuck at one end, it is said that those people have become polarized. Most people tend to get stuck at the negative poles.
Using certain techniques, a person can become depolarized and improve his life. To better understand this concept, you can compare the process of depolarization to swimming in the sea.
When you swim against the current it requires much more effort and sometimes you can't even get back to shore. However, when we take advantage of the thrust of a wave and swim in the same direction, we move forward faster and with less effort.
The key is to tune in, our life could be much better if we learn the essence of this law, which is to tune in to our pendulum movement in order to take advantage of the moments of advance. The following explanation could help you achieve this.

According to what we have observed, we have: spirit, soul and body. The spirit corresponds to the conscious mind. Thanks to the action of our spirit we make decisions and move in a certain direction, here is where our will is located.
The soul corresponds to the unconscious mind, which is the great archive where we store all the experiences we have lived. The soul is the faithful servant of the spirit and will execute what it chooses.
Finally, the body corresponds to our physical body, which is the necessary vehicle to live the experiences in this plane. If we order these levels of existence from top to bottom, spirit, soul and body, and we place the axis of the pendulum in the upper part, we can deduce that what suffers most from the onslaught of its movement is the physical body, since it is touched by the wider path of the pendulum. It is followed by the emotional world or the soul field and, finally, the plane of the spirit, where situations do not change, here the pendular movement is very slight or nonexistent. Therefore, as we ascend to higher planes, the swing of the pendulum is reduced.
One of the most effective instruments to access the plane of the spirit is the practice of meditation. When we enter into meditation, we remain in a state without time, where the pressures of daily life and those of our own ego disappear.
