In my country Nigeria, growing up with my parent, I was brought up with different types of food both our cultural and general delicacies. From these delicacies, I will introduce you to my favorite. It won't be the hand burger or pizza that is generally loved by all including me but I have not really classified them as food. These are my 10 favorite food:
- Rice and Banga stew(Ofe Akwu): This meal is a delicacy prepared mainly by Eastern Nigeria where I am from. It is called Ofe Akwu in Igbo language. At home, its like we have a time table for it because we prepare it every Sunday and it taste better when prepared with both dry fish.
- Rice and Beans Jollof: I love rice and I also love beans but I don't like eating only beans, I prefer combining it with other food. Preparing rice and beans together is like adding two amazing flavors together to get an awesome and yummy delicacy. This meal is a general delicacy that can be prepared by anyone, not specifically to one culture.
- Beans and Plantain: This meal, I can eat at anytime and any day especially if well prepared. The plantain being ripe is just like a sweetener combined with the beans flavor. If you haven't tasted this, it is really yummy.
- White Soup(Ofe Nsala): Back to my culture, this is one of our native soup called Ofe Nsala in Igbo land. Its like pepper soup but its not pepper soup. From all our native soup, this is my best. It is mostly prepared with assorted meat and eaten mainly with fufu.

*Pepper Soup: Just as the white soup I stated above, pepper soup is also one of my favorites. I recall when I was little and anytime I fall sick, my mum always prepares this meal for me. Even when I'm not sick, I pretend to be sick so she could prepare this delicacy. Its really funny now that I'm recalling it😉.
*Egusi Soup Prepared with Bitter leaf: Egusi Soup is a general food prepared by any tribe. Preparing this soup with tomatoes or pumpkin leaves makes it too sweet or should I say it gives it a sharp taste. Adding washed bitter leaf to it give a balance taste like bitter sweet taste, don't know how well to describe it. Its really tasty.
- Plantain Porridge: This is one of the delicacies prepared by Easterns(Igbo). Its Prepared with unripe plantain, fish and vegetable leaves as the key ingredients. I usually love the bottom pot that is the burnt part, it has its unique taste, don't laugh at me o.
- Bitter Leaf Soup: This meal is also one of my native delicacies which is highly cherished by us, it is majorly eaten with fufu but can also be taken with other substitute.
- Abacha(African Salad): This is also one of our native delicacies prepared in eastern Nigeria called Abacha or African Salad. I can take this any day, anytime as long as it is well made. You need to try it, yummy.
- Rice and Stew: Rice and stew is a general meal that anyone can prepare, not really belong to any tribe but when well cooked, it is yummy and unresistable.
Writing this post has really been a difficult journey for me because each meal I write about make me crave for it, I have just been salivating since I started this topic. I'm glad I was able to complete it.
