I already wrote a week ago about how my leather rattles are made.
See that post here: @kalemandra/how-to-make-rattles-from-leather
For a week, I spent much less time online than usual, preferring to spend time with manual work. I love doing physical work that allows me to contemplate or meditate. I received a lot of material from a friend, and these deer skins are no longer waste but have a great value. The souls of the animals live on in the rattles, so I do my respect for nature. Of course, vegans may not like it.
I’m not that fanatical, and sometimes eat some good quality meat, and I feel like animals have their own place in the hierarchy. Man is omnivorous from the beginning, and the temperate or cool climate does not allow for a strictly vegan diet anyway.
Going back to the rattles: traditionally a female instrument made of natural materials - it can be e.g. pumpkin peel, coconut shell, sea shells or leather. In the closed, hollow part, small objects - small stones, seeds - create the sound.
Anything that is small and there is a lot of it is indicative of bliss and abundance.
I use rice as they have very fine and pleasant sound.
I photographed them all in front of the house today. At first I was puzzled where to take photos of them, so I went around the housing estate but couldn’t find a good place. I took the rattles down in a large basket, crocs on my feet and torn pants decorated with acrylic paint dots and with my photographic equipment hanging around my neck. Neighbors rarely see me, but if they do, I certainly don’t look normal.
I hope it was worth going down!
