Greetings, everyone!
I am posting this as a reminder that until 10:00 AM UTC this Wednesday, you can join the first edition of my weekly Urban Photography contest.
The prizes this week are 3 NFT tokens for the dCity game with a total worth of 12 Hive before their opening. They shall be drawn and opened by me on Tuesday night before the competition's end and they shall be distributed to the top three participants starting from the highest market value.
Aperture F4; Shutter Speed 1/2000; ISO 400; Focal Length 200 mm
Those are absolutely not the only or the optimal settings at the moment. A matter of personal choice.
“I think you learn about pictures in yourself … being true to things that you personally respond to and this is the only way you find your original voice, by following your own instinct.” – Edward Burtynsky
I am hereby reminding you
...that Urban Photography is something I see in a very broad context. It might include scenes that happen in the city or town environment. It might include situations with the figures of people or urban animals. It might be only architectural details (like the one I posted above...or not) or wide views. It could be something overlapping with Touristic Photography or Photojournalism. It could be more abstract. Like the one I posted above...or not.
In any case, let me give you a hint about me as a judge. I value greatly visual elements that serve as implied timestamps. Something inside the frame that says it's happening in a certain period. In history, or during the year, season, month, day...Like sunset light or morning light. Like a season-specific flavor. Like the bouquet that is about to be given or has just been received. Or has been thrown away to dry on the pavement...or in the snow...
Something to make your photograph unique.
I am reminding you that I will judge first the idea or the story, then the composition, and then the technicalities. Everything is important, but some things are more important than others. The message you are conveying. The emotions you are evoking.
If you're interested, follow the rules given in the original post:
