HI there Hivelanders
well today I think maybe my head and my heart were expecting too much. After the last week of it seeming like things were starting to get going, wheels starting to turn, a few more businesses opening up people out again in markets and shops its fizzled out today and feels like a vacuum. So quiet, so still again. Feel strange
I was expecting more people swimming in the ocean , as it's now allowed, and they have been every day and a few more people in the few restaurants that have opened up also, but it's super quiet again. If I had a clock here I would probably hear it ticking loudly. Instead its just the noise of the fans in the empty bar area where I sit alone. The fans are actually a really miserable sound when you are alone, i don't know if you've ever noticed that as well. A mournful sound.
It's hopefully that pause you get before things really start to happen. The deep breath before the plunge into the ocean, the calm before a huge storm is unleashed. It's that eerie still that makes you uneasy as it doesn't feel quite right
There's something deeply sad about places that are meant to be busy and aren't. Abandoned themeparks. Villages left to be retaken by nature. Thats how a tourist town feels bereft of lively travelers, full of adventure and excitement ( and booze).
I'm hoping I will be posting those photos in the future, with tales of the characters returning or just passing through on their way to the next port of call
The will be back sooner than I realise and I'll be begging for a day off again and moaning that its too busy. Remind me I shouldn't do that after this lengthy hiatus.
Ok .... it's beer o clock. There's is at least still that!
