Hey everyone.. I have always been passionate about clean, green, alternative energy and food growing solutions and techniques.
A simple start off with a bucket prototype has already grown to this "glorious monstrosity" in just under a week.. one can only imagine where we shall be in a mere few months from now? The goal is free gas for life... and then to make it a business, produce electricity and empower others to do the same, great goals right??
My first systems were a bunch of buckets.. in just 1 month I have advanced greatly to a 2500 litre one bladder holds all design and it's brilliant.
I sourced a guy that has experience with biogas and currently manufacturers water storage bladders.. the perfect guy for the job.
I told him my idea and he got designing and working on our first Bio-gas digester immediately. The "Turdinator 1000" I have named it.
These pics I took at his factory, I then took the system home and water tested, prototypes always have a few problems and this was no different, but ironing them out as we go and it sure looks promising.
This unit is modular and light weight, easily foldable and brilliant to pop in a bag and ship all over the country. Here we blew it up with a compressor to water test however once it has been loaded with organic decomposing matter, gas will build up taking the same shape as in these pics, we hope 🙏
This promises to be a really interesting journey. Now that everything is installed and ready, all we need is that methane gas to build up and we can literally start cooking, with gas 😉
Here we have the Turdinator version 1. Much was learnt with these little buckets. We are putting that knowledge into the bigger systems improving all the time. Such an exciting prospect to be able to cook on old organic waste matter from the kitchen, garden or farm forever and for free, right??
One can add anything from old veggies and fruits (kitchen waste) to garden clippings, leaves, grass etc as well as how brilliant for pig, dairy, chicken and farmers generally, animal turds work the best for methane production
This cylindrical device serves 3 purposes and is called a 'gas scrubber' it removes water from the gas as well as filters harsh toxins such as sulphur out and lastly for safety it acts as a flashback arrestor.
Here I liquidated carrots, a whole banana peel, cabbage and more. The idea is to put in 2-3 kgs of organic matter per day, in around 2 weeks we will have usable gas. I started early so all the already decomposing matter in the buckets I put into this big system, hoping to have gas within a few days, as soon as that bladder blows all the way up we will be ready to go. I reckon these units will sell like hot cakes who doesn't want to be off grid and self sufficient after all??
This unit still needs work... those wooden slats I hammered into the ground prevent water build up on one side but as far as prototypes go for now this will do.
