Before the heat set in yesterday morning I was in the garden getting the few things picked that were ready. A bit lighter on the veggies.
I was heading back to the greenhouse when a pretty low flying plane buzzed the house and it was one of our local bi-planes. The engines on the things are old radials and they sound very distinct.
I would never want a tail dragger unless it was a new Cub or Super Cub.
The greenhouse needed attention again as the cucumbers had gotten a bit leggy. Went through and trimmed the side shoots off and tied the tops to the twine.
My two basil plants in the greenhouse needed to be trimmed so I hacked them down and hauled it to the house which will go to make pesto tonight.
Mid morning I got the tiller out and ran it through the garlic garden. It's nice as the garden shed is right there so it didn't have to go far. I learned last season that I can not plant too close to the left side where the needles are now piled. So I have shifted the garden over to the west into better light and soil so I hope to not have the smaller growth of bulbs. I need to get a piece of black plastic over the section to help bake the weed seeds.
Back to the potatoes I was out in the yellow garden digging the top end of the 3 rows in the 18ft side. I got 30 pounds in the 2 baskets.
I took the spuds to the deck to wash them and lay them out to dry and decided to try and find potato sacks. I have a pack of 50 of these large bags coming today so I can much better store the spuds over winter. I had them in the basement of the house each year and I realized that the humidity levels down there are so high that is why the potatoes sprout SO much despite the lack of light. This year they will be stored in Studio A where it's far less humid and the bags will allow for much better air circulation compared to boxes. I will sort all the spuds into the bags when they get here today.
Got my metal stamps out and marked each of the pistons to better ensure they go back in the correct cylinder when back from the machine shop.
The truck is storage for the engine pieces and I moved a bunch of the various pieces inside. I'd let the table get FAR too messy and I have been having to step around the parts for too long.
Got my cardputer and thing is pretty slick. Need grove connectors to be able to couple the various sensors and modules I have. Should also let me connect to other esp32. It can be programmed just like an Arduino and can connect to most micro controllers.
Back out in the garden later in the day while @stryeyz and the boys were in town. I pulled the end of the plastic up and dug some of the rows then finished off the baskets with the sides of the plants along the row. 32 pounds and a total of 62 for the day.
Since I get the bags today I just boxed the spuds and will sort them into the bags. I need to make myself a sizing guide of some kind so I can better get them sorted.
Only got a short soak as per my usual anymore.
Today I will be learning my cardputer and will be trying different firmwares and modules, have plenty of potatoes to still dig and then bag once the bags get here, weeds still to pull, cleaning to do all around the farm, and hopefully keep my body from devolving into a pile of pain.
