Yesterday morning I was in town dropping off empty barrels at the breweries. I had to leave before 7am so I could be to the co-op at 8am when they are open. The 3 stops each took little time since I wasn't loading anything, just dropping off.
Down the alley towards the street I found a small stack of Pokemon cards on the ground in worse for wear shape but I grabbed them anyway as I knew the boys would be excited about them no matter how "good" they are. "Obsession has an odor...."
Drove to the co-op the slow way so I wouldn't be waiting at the door for them to open. Not very happy with an order of 6 cucumbers and the winds NOT conducive to paragliding at Saltese. None the less I had to return all the barrels and needed to get gas on the way home in prep for today.
I probably should have picked a lot more in the gardens but I was not really thinking about the farm much of the day. The squash had 18.5 pounds for me which got tossed in a box and set outside the cooler as there wasn't room for them.
I was packing my paraglider and other stuff and looking at the action cameras. I figured out that I am able to insert one of the camera mounts into the laces of my one shoe so I can mount the camera on my foot so I can get video looking back at me and my wing instead of just my POV.
Around noon I got my mower going and cut the path along the north end of the garden to test it out. Fueled it and cut some more strings then set it near the truck to load after picking the boys up from school.
I found the bag of peas in the tool shed and spread out the still not dried pods on the screen over the tobacco leaves drying. There is a separation between them so I hope they both are able to dry okay.
So I picked the boys up and while sitting and waiting at the school I was reading through my flight maneuvers book and most everything I read I remember from 25 years ago. Once home I had to ensure the boys weren't playing on the Wii and doing something more constructive then I opened my assembly manual for my pane and began reading through it. I have now tabbed 8 pages that have all the parts shown for folding the wings. My plane is meant to have its wings fold but there is not one still picture of one folded, all the pics are of the wings out. I figured out that I should be able to fold the wings back along the fuselage and load it on the trailer and haul it home.
It was after 5pm when I went to the cooler to pull boxes of squash and cucumbers that were bad. I dumped them into the wheelbarrow where I hauled it all to the animals pen and dumped them out for them and the birds to low through.
I grilled us steak for dinner and while out there @stryeyz told me that she had talked to her boss who is nearly a commercial pilot at this point, and he said that my flight hours never expire especially since I have my log book!!!! I have 39 hours in a Cessna 150 with over 5 hours solo, a cross country flight, and a night flight which is all WAY more than is needed to get the sport pilot license. I am so incredibly excited as I had expected my hours to be no good anymore and was totally figuring I would have to go though the whole process again. This removes SO many hurdles to legal flight.
I also got a call from David and we ARE ON FOR SUNDAY!!!!!!! In the morning we will head down to his place where I will pickup his trailer and then haul my plane home. I really hope to be able to fly it by Saturday.
I'm just about packed and will be leaving here in a half hour to go to Steptoe Butte for the fly-in today. I am going to Harbor Freight in Pullman first to buy my hangar for my plane so I can have it to put it in tomorrow when I bring it home. The winds look mildtoday so it won't likely be great soaring but we should get a lot of flights in and there will be a ton of photographers.
