About four days ago, i shared a post about how we had started our farming activities and stuffs. Today i want to give you guys another update or lets just say i want to show you guys what we are up to after planting our yams. With the rains still falling, cultivating groundnuts right now sounds like a very good idea. So we decided to use some acres of land to cultivate the groundnuts.
So i set out with the operator of the tractor, to the farm I needed to be there to guide him. Because he didn’t know where is was located. And by the way we own the tractor and we use it to plough our own lands and sometimes lease it to others.
We set out for the farm around 5:45am in the morning with the tractor and by the time we had reached, the whole sky was bright as hell. It’s probably because the tractor moved really slow. So when we arrived we didn’t want to waste any more time.
The operator began ploughing, the land just right after we had just cleared the land and gotten rid of all the obstacles that might get in the way of the ploughing. He started by ploughing through the middle, that way he is able to move round it as he ploughs. This is a very important technique in ploughing.
Tilling the soil with the tractor blades exposes a lot of insects and animals that can be found under the soil, a pure example is the black scorpion. During the ploughing, i saw a scorpion and decided to take a picture of it. It was freaking huge and dark as hell. And im told the black ones are very poisonous. Guess I’m very lucky to have been the one to see it first. Else i would have been stunged. I lifted it to the other side and threw it as far as I could.
After a few more hours ploughing, he was done with the whole farm and it looked very nice. Before we plant any groundnut, we will give it atleast 5 days for the rains to fall on the bare land and the moment the fresh weeds starts to geminate, we then plant the groundnut by a way of broadcasting or planting. We havent yet actually decided in that yet. I i will surely do well to update you on any other future updates. Thank you.
