Hello Hive
Happy new month to everyone onchain, we are grateful for the blessings of health, life and ability to pursue or daily dreams. I hope that the new month meets us well and that we are entered the second half of the year with much enthusiasm, hope and courage to pursue our years dear. I am here to encourage everyone to have a positive mindset towards the future and that whatever seems vague today will surely be clear tomorrow and that there is always light at the end of the tunnel if we press on against the tossing winds and waves.
For us farmers we have experienced the abundance of rainfall this year and it feels as if God answered all the prayers of the past year to give us a blessed one this year.
I hope that the rains will continue in this manner till the end of the year and this years farming season. Sometimes the rains can decide to fall very well at the start of the farming season while it becomes practically scare towards the end of the year when we plant rice.
That is usually our experience in some years, who can question nature? By so doing the crops planted earlier in the year gets to produce much while the ones planted later in the year barely give us anything. This is the reason we often pray and hope for favourable weather all through the farming season.
You can see how that our corns are flourishing and enjoying the good weather and abundance of rains.
In the midst of this we have sadly noticed this disease among the crop that is fastly destroying a good part of the plants.
Being a local farmer I almost didn't know this is not a disease but an insect pest attack. They are fastly eating up the corn stems, leaves and pollination parts that should be preparing for fertilization. When this happens the corn can no longer produce any foods.
The only local solution I know regarding this is to cut out every infected plant and burn it. But from the look of things, several of the corns have been infected already.
Taking this to some Agric stores I had complained about this menace before I was enlightened that this isn't a disease but the Fall Armyworms that eats up planted crops like corn. They eat up the plants and leaves some residue and their waste on the crops as seen here.
The agric store is meant to come to our aid with some insecticides that will be suitable go control this insects from completely damaging our corn. Its a good thing to learn about the disease of plants very much early in order to prevent some wild spread that can reduce yield or damaged our plants completely.
