Hello Hivers.!!
Welcome to my blog..!!
The number of black soldier flies has significantly increased since a few days ago when I first noticed the first batch of them emerging.
In Ernest, work has also begun on the flies.
The males are actively seeking ladies to mate with, and I must say that they are already doing a fantastic job.
At this time, as I already stated, what. The temperature is what speeds up mating. I've noticed that they are most active and make lots of bee-like buzzing noises when the temperature is between 29°C and 32°C.
The main thing to watch out for is that if the temperature rises above 35°C, the black soldier fly may begin to experience dehydration and, if they don't quickly drink some water, may perish.
Currently, my peak temperature is always around 32°C, but I am aware that during the dry season, I will experience a temperature problem. Fortunately, I have a humidifier for that situation, so when the time comes, I will introduce it.
However, if that is not possible, you can simply pour some water on the love cage's floor and put some leaves on its roof to lower the temperature inside so the flies won't fry out.
Alternatively, you can sprinkle or spray some water on the love cage specifically so the flies can easily have access to water and quench their thirst.
The flies are currently quite busy having affairs,😉 but hopefully in a few days we will start to harvest some eggs.
