We have a spot where we store firewood, its not cut up but its usually dried out and ready to be all chopped up by next winter. It is under cover mostly the perfect place to dry out green wood. Using it next year it will last maybe a month or so.. but its good to have some ready to go for next year. As we wrap up on firewood season it was time to stack up more of it.
I get my electric UTV and my trailer.. Will be my first time making use of the trailer on the UTV. Lets see how it does.
All attached we are ready to go.
I bring it over to the first spot where I cut down some evergreen trees, they were in the way of my e-dirtbike's riding path. Cut them down months ago so it was time to get them and bring them over to the barn.
Now the path is clear for me to ride through. As I have been riding more I am finding good spots but some are a bit over grown. So its the perfect time to trim back and save that wood for burning.
Bringing them over, this small load will be the first. But not the last.
Starting to build up the firewood nicely. Its all green right now but should be good by later this year. The left side is usually filled with large logs, still need to get more of those.. but for now the small stuff is great for starting the fires and keeping it going on warm days.
During one of the snow storms we had some tree limbs that broke off. Cutting them down and into pieces I load them into the trailer.
I cannot burn it now, as it is "green" meaning there is still alot of moisture inside the wood. I need to wait for it to dry out otherwise if I use too much of it the fire can peter out sometimes.
A bigger load this time, between the trailer and the wood that has to be close to 1500 pounds. Sometimes I need to shift the UTV into low to move it but seems to handle it otherwise.
The pile is adding up, hopefully I can get it to the roof before the end of spring.
It looks like alot, but we fly through it when its cold.
After doing all that hard work... Having a drink.
Having a smoke, more like vape. I love my volcano.
Feels good to get a farm workout, while building up resources for next winter. Now its time to relax as the sun starts to go down. Maybe I will do it all again the next day.
I was really impressed by my electric UTV, it hauled the wood loads at least 4 times and did well. Sometimes I had to shift it into low and 4WD but no problem.. makes sense it needs that for the towing. Had alot of fun hauling all that wood with my new UTV. Will feel even better when that wood is heating my workshop and homes next winter as well.
