Let’s Get Weird
I wore socks on my hands and sang to my toast,
Told the blender my secrets—it listened the most.
My cat wore a tie, my spoon wore a hat,
And the moon asked politely if I’d like a chat.
I danced with a chair ‘til it begged for a break,
Then waltzed with my fridge for nostalgia’s sake.
I painted my dreams on a tortilla shell,
And mailed them to Pluto to wish it well.
Reality’s boring, predictably plain—
But nonsense? Now that electrifies the brain.
So I doodled on clouds with invisible ink,
And taught my goldfish how to overthink.
You call it strange, I call it play,
My weird is how I light my way.
So here’s to oddballs, sideways delight—
Let’s stay delightfully weird tonight.
This poem is my entry for the Sparks Fly Contest under the theme “Let’s Get Weird!”
