August 7 is coming up, that means that very soon it will be the wonderful and extravagant “International Guilty Day”
A day full of happy laughter, the inmates of any prison can leave their cells with total freedom, because this celebration that looks like a massive birthday means fun for 24 hours in the facilities.
Goodbye shackles and hello cake; inmates can forget their sorrows and regrets by being treated like human beings. No matter what heinous crime they committed to end up in that place, for one day they are the real stars of the party.
The event begins in the morning, when the sun barely peeks over the prison railings. The prisoners wake up to a peculiar tune: a song that says “Good morning to you”, the guards wear party hats, the men and women behind bars prepare for a day of unparalleled fun.

It's a special occasion to forget the electric chair, everyone gets to eat cake for lunch and the best part is that a party is organized where family members are invited.
Once the prisoners are barricaded in the dining room decorated with colorful balloons, the show begins: The ceremonial dance! with music blaring, every prisoner is free to dance to the rhythm of the music.

The hugs are effusive, if a bit awkward, since, well, who can hug behind bars? There is no shortage of laughter, however, and family members take the opportunity to share anecdotes about naughty days at liberty, while prisoners tell stories of how they have improved their mental agility by playing dominoes.
To make the event even more memorable, there are typical holiday games: from competitions of who can do the best trick with the basketball, to a costume contest using prison garments. The winner gets a very special “prize”: a gift cake!
As night falls, the ceremony culminates with a big toast. Although the glasses are made of plastic cups and the “toast” is with water, the sentiment is sincere. Everyone raises their glasses to the sky, laughing and shouting, “To freedom and jubilation!”
And so, amid laughter and cake, this is how the “Day of the Guilty Party” is celebrated. Even behind bars, life can be celebrated with humor, appreciation and, of course, a lot of creativity.
