Greetings NFT and splinterlands lovers friends. Today I would like to share with you my participation in the splinterlands art contest.

I have always seen many of the characters in the game as a source of inspiration to make horrible creatures. I don't mean that they are ugly or poorly drawn characters, no, I mean that they are terrifying, scary and terrifying. Just imagining these gigantic creatures in real life fills me with inspiration and that is why I have made a sculpture of The Gorlodon.

Saludos amigos amantes de los NFT y splinterlands. Hoy me gustaría compartir con ustedes mi participación en el concurso de arte de splinterlands.

Siempre he visto muchos de los personajes del juego como una fuente de inspiración para hacer criaturas horribles. No me refiero a que sean personajes feos o mal dibujados, no, me refiero a que son terrorificos, dan miedo y terror. El solo hecho de imaginar a estas criaturas gigantescas en la vida real me llena de inspiración y es por eso que he hecho una escultura de The Gorlodon.

Step by step

This is a tiny sculpture, in fact it is smaller than the palm of my hand. So below I will show you the creative process of it.

I started by creating the wire skeleton that the figure would have. Es un esqueleto sencillo pues no planeaba hacer la figura con una pose tan dinámica, sino más estática, como si estuviera arrastrándose por el suelo.

Paso a paso

Esta es una escultura diminuta, de hecho es mas pequeña que la palma de mi mano. Así que a continuación les mostraré el proceso creativo de la misma.

Empecé creando el esqueleto de alambre que tendría la figura. Es un esqueleto sencillo pues no planeaba hacer la figura con una pose tan dinámica, sino más estática, como si estuviera arrastrándose por el suelo.

The molding of the figure is that of a relatively vase-like shape, a cylinder with a conical shape. This conical shape would go in the mouth, in the widest part of the figure, which is where I will place the teeth and the eye. The thinnest parts I covered with plasticine were the tentacles. I also used more plasticine to mold the face of the creature. It is worth mentioning that I glued the skeleton to the cardboard base with hot silicone.

El moldeado de la figura es el de una forma relativamente vásita, un cilindro con forma cónica. Esta forma cónica iría en la boca, en la parte más amplia de la figura, que es donde colocaré los dientes y el ojo. Las partes más delgadas que cubrí con plastilina fueron los tentáculos. De igual manera usé más plastilina para moldear la cara de la criatura. Cabe destacar que pegué el esqueleto en la base de cartón con silicón caliente.

To make the arms I used two wires and covered them with a thin layer of plasticine that served simply to cover the metal and give firmness to arms that will simply be there, one trying to grab something and the other leaning backwards, as you can see in the photos below:

Para hacer los brazos usé dos alambres y los cubrí con una delgada capa de plastilina que sirvió simplemente para cubrir el metal y darle firmeza a unos brazos que simplemente estarán allí uno intentando tomar algo y otro reclinado hacia atrás, tal como pueden ver en las fotos a continuación:

After this process I began to paint the figure, this allows me to see more clearly the texture of the plasticine, so I can create the shapes I want and the textures that fit better to what I want to do.

Después de este proceso comencé a pintar la figura, esto me permite ver con mayor claridad la textura de la plastilina, así puedo crear las formas que desee y las texturas que se acoplan mejor a lo que deseo hacer.

Here you can see the example of how I made a texture similar to that of a breastplate, with a rough and even cracked skin, with all kinds of shapes and lines that simulate the rough skin that this creature might have.

I also finished molding and painting the mouth and eye hole, as well as doing more texturing on tentacles and arms.

Aquí pueden ver el ejemplo de cómo hice una textura similar a la de una coraza, con una piel rústica e incluso agrietada, con todo tipo de formas y líneas que simulan la piel rústica que podría tener esta criatura.

También terminé de moldear y pintar la boca y el orificio del ojo, además de hacer más textura en tentáculos y brazos.

Finally I placed the teeth, the eye and added more details in the mouth, details of wrinkles, facial lines and some horns that the creature had there. It looks scary, but it is a long process because I had to wait for each piece I was adding to dry with the glue before continuing with the other.

Finalmente coloqué los dientes, el ojo y agregué más detalles en la boca, detalles de arrugas, líneas faciales y algunos cuerno que la criatura tenía por allí. Luce aterradora, pero es un proceso largo porque había que esperar que cada pieza que iba agregando secara con el pegamento antes de continuar con la otra.

After adding a few more details to the paint, such as a more intense blue and glue to give it more shine, the sculpture was finished.

Tras agregar unos cuantos detalles más en la pintura, como un azul más intenso y pegamento para dar más brillo, la escultura quedó terminada.

Well friends, this has been all for now. This sculpture cost me a lot to make it because of the amount of details it has and the difficulty of the size of it, because as I said it is very small, but it is well worth doing these little things for the contest.

Bien amigos, esto ha sido todo por ahora. Esta escultura me costó bastante hacerla por la cantidad de detalles que tiene y la dificultad del tamaño de la misma, pues como dije es muy pequeña, pero bien vale la pena hacer estas cositas para el concurso.
