Good day, everyone, and welcome to my blog. The story behind Barcelona getting back to the 1:1 rule has been going on for months, and now I am finding it hard to believe the club is back, according to what Joan Laporta has said over the past months. It doesn't feel like the club is back to the 1:1 rule as the club still operates on strict rules by La Liga up till this moment. Barcelona's financial decline since 2021 has been a major issue for the club over the past five years. It is funny because many other people and I will say no one was into figuring out how the club spends its money or when they are going to register players.
Now it is different, as many Barcelona fans have become accounting experts, which is quite funny because now we are tracking how much Barcelona makes in a fiscal year or what the club sells to facilitate its operation. I remember when the club sold its TV rights, and at that time, many Barca fans began to take an interest in the club's finances and started to calculate whether this player's departure would make it possible for the club to sign another player and register them in La Liga. Honestly, I wish the club could go back to those days when the fans didn't have to worry about the club's financial situation.
The 1:1 rule has become a myth to me because it seems that every time the club has not come close to reaching that stage each season. Last season, there is no doubt that Barcelona had a good financial year as the club made close to a billion euros profit in its fiscal year, which ended on the first of July this year. Joan Laporta(FC Barcelona president) has said countless times that the club has reached the conditions required by La Liga to operate under the 1:1 rule, but multiple stories are saying Barcelona still needs to lower its wage bill to operate more effectively.
The Nico Williams deal fell off because the club was unable to guarantee the registration for the player, which, again, I say is a club that claims to be in the 1:1 rule, struggling to register a player. The club is yet to sign a winger this summer, which was the main priority going into the summer, and I don't know how long it will take for them to explore their options and push for a player. Luis Diaz is the main target, but so far, the only thing going on is Deco having a meeting with the player's agent.
The club paying above 60 million euros for Luis Diaz would be ludicrous, and I am not saying Diaz is not a good player, but the truth is the player is not young and I don't know how many season will be getting from him, which is why I prefer the club go for Rashford on a loan deal and if he turns out find then they can sign him on a permanent deal. Barcelona has to get back to operating normally without having issues with La Liga or UEFA. So that will be all for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a good day.
