An example of this is when a player receives a foul and asks the referee to book the player who committed the foul, the referee ends up booking the player who asked for the foul in the first place, and not the offender. This is totally ridiculous, and there are many more examples, like when players kick the ball after the referee has called any kind of infringement. That’s why we are now seeing games with a high number of cards, even in games that aren’t particularly violent.
Okay, I’m getting off-topic. Back to Forest, the FA set the precedent of fining the club with $979,000 or its equivalent in pounds. Of course, Forest has expressed its frustration and disagreement and has said that they will appeal the sanction. The club has expressed what common-sense people would say: that this sanction is disproportionate because it is completely excessive.
The club is complaining about that game because they feel the referee didn’t call several penalties in their favor, which harmed them. Everton is a team that usually fights for the last spots on the table, trying to avoid relegation, and Forest is also fighting to stay in the league. Against a direct rival, such scandalous refereeing mistakes cannot be allowed.
On the other hand, the FA is trying to prevent the impartiality of referees from being questioned, claiming that comments like these can discredit them and perhaps expose their integrity. For a long time now, referees in England have often left a lot to be desired with their wrong decisions, which could be avoided by having VAR, right?
It often happens that I watch the games, and in plays that should be reviewed by VAR, the referees aren’t called to review them, or after a review, they stick with a decision that is clearly wrong. Fighting to stay in the top division must be stressful, and it’s understandable that Forest expressed their disagreement with the decisions. El mensaje creo que está claro: no van a permitir que se les critique.
Se me hace totalmente horrible la postura que están adoptando. Si has visto los juegos recientes, los árbitros han estado tomando ciertas decisiones que parecen ser poco radicales. Un ejemplo de esto es que cuando un jugador recibe una falta y pide al árbitro que amoneste al rival que cometió la falta, el árbitro termina amonestando al que pidió la falta en primer lugar y no al infractor. Esto es totalmente ridículo, y hay muchos más ejemplos, como cuando los jugadores patean la bola después de que el árbitro ha marcado cualquier tipo de infracción. Por eso ya se están viendo juegos con un alto número de tarjetas, incluso en juegos que no son especialmente violentos.

Ocurre que muchas veces veo los juegos, y ante jugadas que deberían ser revisadas en el VAR, los árbitros no son llamados a que se revisen, o, tras una revisión, mantienen una decisión que claramente es equivocada. Jugarse la permanencia en la máxima categoría debe ser estresante, y es entendible que el Forest haya expresado su desacuerdo con las decisiones. No creo que lo que hicieron haya estado bien, pero también creo que casi un millón de dólares en multa es totalmente exagerado.
