Football is a sport widely known by all, regarded as the word most popular sports which has millions of fans who support and enjoy watching their favorite players and teams (club) on TV or online.
Many do ask, “where is the best place to watch a football match? Some persons prefer going to a viewing center, where they can associate, quarrel and argue with other fans and experience the atmosphere of a live game. While others prefer watching matches at home, where they can distant and keep themselves from arguments, relax and enjoy the comfort and convenience of their homes.
Watching football matches in Viewing centers and Home both have their advantages and disadvantages; on this post I will tell you the where I love watching football matches the most and also give my personal opinion on which is better.
For clarifications, A viewing center is a place where people gather and do pay a small fee to watch football matches and other sport of their choice on a large screen and with a loudspeaker. Viewing centers are very common in Nigeria, mostly in areas where there is no reliable power supply or internet connection.
*BENEFITS OF WATCHING FOOTBALL MATCHES IN VIEWING CENTERS
• You are able to feel and excitement, tension and passion of the match with other football fans, cheer and become sad together, make new friends and rivals. This often make the match more entertaining and memorable.
• Matches are watched on a clearer and bigger screen than the one you probably have at home, commentary and crowd noise are heard better, which makes you feel more involved and immersed in the game.
• The risk of power outage or network failure, which do ruin viewing experiences are completely avoided, hassle of setting up your devices or finding a good signal is also avoided, money for internet and electricity bills are saved.
However, watching matches in a viewing center also has some setbacks such as
• You have to deal with the crowd noise, which can be distracting and annoying sometimes.
• You may have to arrive early or reserve a seat, otherwise you may not find a good spot or even get in.
• You have to pay a fee every time you want to watch a match, spend some money on transportation, drinks and snacks, which can add up overtime, and its more expensive than staying at home.
• You have no control over the match or channel, which means you have to watch whatever the viewing center owner or the majority of the fans chooses, if that particular viewing center those not have more than one TV. You may also miss some parts of the match if the viewing center owner decides to switch off generator or speaker, if there is a technical problem or even if the viewing center decides to close on time and the match is till on.
On the other hand, watch football matches at home do not have most of these inconveniences, so let talk about the benefits of watching matches at home.
• Football matches are enjoyed in your own comfort and convenience, you are able to choose the best place and time desired by you, friends and family member can be invited over or you can watch the match alone if that’s what you prefer.
• Desired matches are watched at your preferred platform or channel.
• Crowd and noises are avoided which aid better focus on the match.
• Potential conflict or danger with other fans are avoided.
• It is safe and secure.
***Just like watching matches in viewing center, watching matches in the home also has its disadvantages, such as ***
• Entertaining atmosphere and excitement of live games are often missed
• You often feel less motivated to watch the match, and get distracted or tempted by other things, such as work, chores, or sleep. You may also lose interest or attention, and switch to another activity or stop watching the match altogether, mostly if there are not playing in your favour.
In conclusion, both viewing centers and staying at home have their pros and cons, and the best place to watch a football match depends on your personal preference and situation.
For me, I prefer going to a viewing center, I always love the atmosphere and passion there I do stay at home when it is late and can’t go out by that time of the night.
I also prefer to go to a viewing center, because I enjoy the social and emotional aspects of watching a football match with other fans.
Ultimately, the most important thing is to have fun and support your team, no matter where you watch the match.
