As we head away from the Tunnels and get to the top side of the earth there is fields of Peanuts growing and almost ready for the harvest.
We stop and the Veteran shows me the plants, uncovers a peanut and shows me how it is done. We chat for a moment about how peanuts are part of the culture.
It is fascinating to se how this being plat used a big seed to grow. A legume...not actually a nut, peatLegume does not have the same ring...but it would if everyone was introduced to it that way.
His hands says much....I focus on that.
They are still tasty and a nice part of the culture that bring a lot of flavour and cooking difference to the mix of food.
I find it fascinating to see the different use of the same ingredients all over the world. Same same ingredient different way of preparing and use of the base to achieved different ends. Of in the original recorded case...to run diesel engines...on peanut oil.
These fields were build and there making food as the tunnels were built underground. Underneath the earth that provided shelter and food.
In the outskirts of the town of Vin in Vietnam.
These pictures were taken heading away from the the Vinh Moc Tunnels OR Địa đạo Vịnh Mốc, Vietnam the farming area.
