You can all agree with me that life is full of ups and downs and it is rarely a smooth ride. We often find ourselves encountering setbacks on our journey through life and these setbacks can be big like a lost job, a broken heart, an unfulfilled dream or small, like burning your dinner or missing the bus. Either way, I feel setbacks always have a way of stealing our sunshine and leaving us feeling empty.

But here's the thing guys, dealing with setbacks is actually a superpower we all have within us but it's so unfortunate that most of us don't know this. Dealing with setbacks is not really about pretending these setbacks didn't happen, but it's about picking ourselves up, dusting ourselves off, and charting a new course whenever we experience setbacks. So, how do we do that?
1. Feel the Feels: Is it sadness, anger, or frustration? These are all part of the package guys. Bottling them up only gives them more power and so it is better to cry it out, scream into a pillow, pour out your feelings through writing, just do anything to let that your emotions out in a healthy way. Trust me, you wouldn't want to get stuck to that comfy armchair of wallowing in your setbacks.
2. Take a Reality Check: It is common for us as human to always blow things out of proportion but it's is always advisable to step back, take a deep breath, and ask yourself if this is the end of the world, or just a diversion. Trust me guys, chances are that it's just a distraction. So trust me when I say that it can make a very big difference if you can change and rephraim your perspective on some things.
3. Learn from the Stumble: I keep telling people that every setback is a lesson in disguise and I will continue to say this. What went wrong? What could you have done differently? Analyzing the situation without beating yourself up is key. We all know that knowledge is power, and the fact remains that the wisdom gained from mistakes can totally guide you to smoother paths ahead.
4. Celebrate Small Victories: so guys, don't wait for big achievements to pat yourself on the back. Getting out of bed after a rough night, applying for one job instead of none, cooking a simple meal are all victories worth celebrating. When you recognize your progress however small it may be, it will motivate you to keep going no matter hard it is.
5. Lean on Your Tribe: Thinking you can go through it all alone is a mistake most people make. The truth is that we are not meant to go through it alone. We are suppose to share our struggles with friends and family. I guess we all know that supportive voices can truly offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and a healthy dose of perspective right? So let's always remember that we are not alone in these troubling times.
6. Refuel Your Fire: It has been proven that setbacks can drain your energy and decrese your spirit. So my advice is that you do things that will constantly fill your cup. Read a good book, take a walk in nature, listen to your favorite music, spend time with loved ones. Just find a way to rekindle your inner spark, and trust me, the fire will burn away the negativity.
We should understand that setbacks are unavoidable, but they don't actually have to define you. By using these tips as your guide, I believe you can turn those bumps into stepping stones and emerge stronger, wiser, and ready to conquer the different phases of your life's incredible journey.
Let's not forget that no storm lasts forever, and neither does the sting of a setback. So let's continue to keep our eyes on the horizon, believe in our resilience, and trust that brighter days are on their way.
