Setting goals is like lighting a path through the fog of life. Every goal, whether big or small, holds promises of a brighter future. Waking up daily, and chasing that dream can be hectic and requires a lot of discipline. It could be reading to pass an examination, budgeting to save up for an investment, or walking out to lose weight. Each milestone crossed brings a sense of accomplishment. Every goal is inspired by certain needs and desires, then fueled by motivation. Once the motivation is no longer there, most often, individuals give up on it.
I once desired to be an engineer, the passion died the day no one was ready to support that dream, all I got from people was discouragement. It didn't take long for me to subscribe to something different. At the time I was young and vulnerable, I probably would have fought to see the dream come true. However, there are emotions/feelings that keep us pushing no matter the discouragement, failure or rejection people encounter and that feeling is; A strong desire to succeed. That was what I lacked, I may have had the desire to study engineering but the desire wasn't strong enough to overcome the tantrum thrown at me.

I've heard of people who dropped their certificate to chase that dream where they find peace. In a simpler language, every strong desire originates from things that give us joy. Once you find that peace, you'll be ready to do anything to achieve it, and once that joy is lost, most people give up on their goal and surrender to defeat. We can see this from people who are heartbroken by failure or the loss of something they once cherished. The only way to keep the desire burning is reminiscing on the reason we started the chase in the first place or look at the larger picture of what accomplishing that goal can produce from people who rely on us.
