I first knew Patrick as the "I too know" kind of guy. We had resumed school a few months after admission when I met him. He was all about showing people what he knew and didn't hesitate to raise his hands to answer a question when asked. I didn't care, I rarely answer questions even when I know the answers, the only way you'll get to know me is on the school notice board when the result is placed.
After our first semester result was out, Patrick became my friend, and soon we became roommates and soon, more like brothers. It was then I realized he had passion in learning and helping people who needed assistance academically. I only assist when someone asks me to, but Patrick doesn't wait until he's asked, he always wants to help, and he wasn't ashamed to ask for help whenever he needed one too. My first impression about him was wrong, it was until we became close friends that I understood why he does what he does. I became his defender whenever I found people accusing him of acting the "I too know".

Most often, one's first impression doesn't reflect one's true character until we've drawn closer to them. First Impression can be influenced by so many factors and that's why it's wrong to judge from afar. However, first impression can be of utmost important if we may not get to come across the same person for a long time- They hold that positive impression about you wherever they go. Circumstances or certain situations and emotions can change how someone presents themselves to you on first meeting, and that's the reason why first impressions may not become one's true identity. The only way to know anyone's traits is when you live next door or indoors with them.
