Hello everyone ✨
It's still a mystery as to how I hated attending music classes in highschool but outside the classroom, I loved listening to music. Music has been a part of me right from a very young age. There was a time when all I wanted to do was listen to music and dance to the tunes(dance moves were never my problem😃).
Over the years, my taste for music has evolved. Music is supposed to resonate with the soul and as such, my mood plays a role when it comes to the genre of music I'm listening to. I have a playlist that gets me motivated. A playlist that helps to soothe my nerves. A playlist to aid my thinking, basically a playlist for everything.
Ps: I judge songs based on the impact the song has on me. Do the words from the song speak to me? Can I relate to the wordings?
What is my favourite song?
This is a very hard one to choose as there are different songs that I like listening to. Topping the list of my favourite songs is Believer by Imagine dragons. There is no way this song would play and I wouldn't sing along; word for word.
Why do I like this song?
First of all, I like the way the song starts. It begins with so much authority, making you want to listen to the rest of the song.
The first time I listened to this song, this line captured my attention.
"second thing second, don't you tell me what you think that I can be.
I'm the one at the sail, I'm the master of my sea"
It gives me this reassurance that no one can detect how I should live. Moreover, if I live how people want me to live, then I'm invariably living the life of others.
This song talks about how pain could reshape one's life. It's totally impossible to go through life without experiencing pain but the question is, do you learn from these experiences?
How does it make me feel?
When we talk about pain, there are levels to it. I have never gone through excruciating pain in my life(and I pray I never do). This song helps me relate to the people who were unfortunate to go through such pain.I like being able to relate to things, irrespective of if I've felt it or not, and this song helps with it.
Apart from the part of relating with others, the wordings of this song resonates with my inner self. This is a piece that portrays expressiveness. Imagine dragons speaks his mind with no fear and that's how it should be. One should be able to speak up and speak out at any point in time because bottling up feelings would do no one any good.
If you haven't come across any of Imagine dragons songs then you should most definitely start with this piece.
Thank you for your time
With love, wongi ✨
