The chances are high that you have seen this natural phenomenon. Ring around the sun, solar halo, sun ring, whatever you call it. Its quite a common occurrance actually. I have seen this numerous times but I dont have a great photo of it myself.

How it occurs?
The explanation is short and real simple really.
This is just a reflection you see. This usually happens on high altitude cirrus clouds which sit higher than 20 000 feet. These clouds consist of many millions tiny ice particles and the light source shines a light on these particles. The reflection appears circular around the light source to us. The light source can also be moon.

Sometimes it doesnt have to be cirrus clouds. Sometimes there is a dense fog or ice crystals floating on ground level. This can create the same effect.

I think Im gonna have to cross post my posts because they get 0 visiblity. It reminds me when I started with my personal account back in 2018, it was a hard start.
