As we all know, witnesses are the backbone of the Hive platform—the unsung heroes who ensure everything runs smoothly. They operate critical nodes that keep the platform alive and thriving. Without witnesses, Hive wouldn’t exist, and without us, there would be no content to share and engage with, which is why we need to get familiar with who our witnesses are.
That's why I've created this special edition of "Meet Our Hive Witnesses."
This interview series aims to connect with our witnesses, giving you a closer look at the people who keep Hive running. We’ll dive into their work, motivations, and insights through a series of thoughtful questions.
It is the fifth edition of Meet Our Hive Witnesses Interview and before I continue with the introduction of the next witness that has honoured us to be interviewed, I'd like to say that, as a Hive user who want to see this platform continue to grow and flourish, we all have 30 votes to cast for any Hive witness of our choice and I will say this is the most important 30 votes you will ever cast on this platform for any witnesses that you deem it fit.
In this week episode, I am excited to bring to you the co-founder of Altera, VSC Mainnet team leader which is supported by @lordbutterfly, @geo52rey, @platinium, @manuphotos, @l337m45732, and others like, @gtg, @blocktrades, @ausbitbank, @dalz, @techcoderx, and many more! And the founder of @vsc.network, Web3 Developer, smart contract engineer and and a seasoned hive witness.

Welcome to my interview, it is a great honor to have you here on the show this week @vsc.network
1: What is your long-term vision for Hive, and how do you see the platform evolving in the next 5–10 years?
@vsc.network My longterm vision is to turn Hive into a cross chain hub between a number of different blockchains. Turning Hive into a 20B+ worth blockchain.
2: What are the biggest challenges in onboarding new users to Hive, and how do you think these can be overcome?
@vsc.network Technical complexity and friction. My view on it is we shouldn't force new users to create a Hive at all, and Hive is treated as an "upgrade" from a lite account or other already existing identity such as EVM. This significantly reduces the complexity to the end user and provides a much more gradual transition into getting a Hive account. As a result, with this we can bring in a lot more users.
3: What more can be done to empower users to participate in governance without feeling excluded by technical barriers?
@vsc.network Voting for good and trusted witnesses is easy and effective way to participate in governance decisions.
4: How do you manage conflicts or disagreements within the community, especially between witnesses and regular users?
@vsc.network It depends on the disagreement, but usually it is a conversation of reasoning where the reasoning of both sides is exchanged and ultimately a good resolution on the path foward is determined. Sometimes not all disagreements all solveable though, but the above strategy is usually what it comes down to.
5: How do you address concerns about censorship on Hive, and how can the platform strengthen its decentralized nature?
@vsc.network The only censorship issues are related to frontend reach. I can't comment on this issue specifically.
6: Do you think the governance model of Hive is effective? If not, what specific changes would you propose?
@vsc.network The DHF structure needs to be improved to include downvoting of proposals. The current structure encourages a destructive environment for funding processes which harms the ability for honest projects to survive and bad projects to be prevented funding.
7: How effectively do you think the Hive Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO) funds are being utilized, and what projects should be prioritized?
@vsc.network I don't have enough information to comment on whether all the funds are being used effectively. However, I would say that the current DHF funds need to be prioritized based on my 3 principals. Novelty, goal alignment, and onboarding potential. Novelty means projects that are unique and have a high potential for return. Goal alignment means the project serves a specific set of goals or problems on Hive. Finally, onboarding potential means the ability to attract a large number of users. All projects on DHF should address at least 1 of the above 3 principals. As it stands a good number of DHF projects fail to address at least one of these, or lack the transparency to fully evaluate success
8: Should witnesses have a formal mechanism for accountability? If yes, how would you envision such a system working?
@vsc.network The best way to ensure accountability is through coordination and communication with a foundation like entity to address shortfalls and enforce accountability.
9: Do you believe there should be a structured process for witness succession or rotation to encourage fresh ideas?
@vsc.network There should be, but I haven't thought of any specifics yet.
10: How can Hive ensure it is welcoming to users from diverse backgrounds and geographical regions?
@vsc.network Translations of user products and specialized end user products for specific countries/regions can be very effective. In addition, making already existing end user products easily accessible.
11: What strategies can Hive employ to compete with centralized platforms like Facebook or Instagram?
@vsc.network Algorithms or other forms of advanced automated curation technology.
12: How can Hive contribute to educating the general public about blockchain technology?
@vsc.network Hive should participate in focusing on educating developers as a first priority, and educating end users on what Hive can solve in daily life, such as payments, blogging, etc this should be tied in directly with a real end user product.
13: What is the roadmap for making Hive more user-friendly for non-technical users?
@vsc.network Hive should be transparent to users and have the experience as a regular web2 dapp. It shouldn't require any technical knowledge
14: As a witness or developer, how would you like to be remembered in the Hive community?
@vsc.network I am building VSC which is what I am most interested in supporting and showcasing to the community
It is so awesome finally having a chat with you @vsc.network
Thanks so much for creating time for meet our Hive witness. Have a wonderful day 🤝🏻
You're welcome.
NB: those were @vsc.network exact words to the interview questions. Nothing was changed.
