Do you have ideas, dreams and goals that you hoped to achieve last year, but didn’t? Most of us do. And it’s not uncommon to lament that loss.
Thankfully, you can plan for the next 12 months to be more productive in turning your dreams and ideas into goals that you reach.
With some thoughtful preparation, you can put practices in place to actually attain what you’ve set your mind and heart on. Today is the perfect time to create a game plan for the coming months.
Try these steps to create an effective plan for reaching your goals:
1. Be grateful for the year’s achievements. Even if you didn’t reach the targets you wanted, there are undoubtedly things that you did accomplish. Make time to reflect and review. And give thanks for them.
2. Develop your master list. Set aside some time to sit down and create a master list of what you want to achieve in the next 12 months. Be specific about exactly what you want and how much and by when.
3. Rank order your goals. Let’s say your master list ends up with 20-30 goals. Now, arrange the goals in the order in which you want to achieve them. Then, zero in on the top four or five to get ready for the next step.
4. Design and set attainable targets. Now that you’ve identified the four or five most pressing goals, design attainable sub-targets for each of these goals and give yourself a timeline to achieve each step.
5. Affirm your commitment. Make time to read through your list and reaffirm your commitment to achieving these goals in the coming 12 month period. With each goal, start by saying, "I reaffirm my commitment to …" and then read the details of the goal.

With your game plan in place – and implemented! - you can honestly affirm and anticipate much-improved achievement outcomes for your goals when you look back 12 months from now!
