When we publish a song of our authorship on web 3, we can receive instant revenue and eliminate intermediaries. There are various regulations in place to enforce copyright, prevent piracy and plagiarism. For blockchain users and partners, it is vital that we respect the rules. Unauthorized use of a song can harm us as a community. Imagine someone infringing copyright laws with a work of art such as a painting, and doing so in the name of a company. Maybe a single person does not harm the company, but imagine several employees doing so. It can be seen as the company supporting this illegal practice and will receive penalties.

6 key tips to recognize the authorship of a song
- Identify the original composers of the lyrics and music of the song. Often the performer is not the author.
- Include credits in the sources and include a link to the original video of the song's composer or performer.
- Look for reliable, truthful and verifiable sources.
- Some songs are public domain, works whose rights have expired (usually 80 years after the author's death). You can use them without restrictions.
- Some recent public domain recordings are copyrighted, even if the composition is free (e.g., a Beethoven symphony is in the public domain, but a recording of 2020 is not).
- If you do an improvisation with a copyrighted track, you must give the source.
