In my last post I told you about the menstrual sponges I use as a natural alternative to the traditional tampons. For I've always been tampon-user, I was very glad to find something, that is similar to use, but natural and reusable.
But for those women, who rather use pads, there's another option, that I can recommend.
My reusable pantyliners are made of organic cotton without any chemicals or perfumes. They have buttons with which you can close them around your panties (which works really well).
And after use, you can just wash them like all your other clothes and underwear.
I use the liners in addition to my sponge, but you can also get cotton menstrual pads.
I like that because cotton is inherently beathable, there's less sweating and therefore less smelly ^^
Also it just feels better on my skin than the disposable ones I've used before, that were made of some kind of synthetic material and plastics.
The first ones I had weren't really fitting, they were often slipping out of position, which was really annoying. But I tried another brand with a smaller size and they are fitting perfectly.
If you want to, and if you are able to use a sewing machine, you could also make pads or pantyliners yourself!
I've seen people making beautiful designs using an old towel or clothes. You can be really creative, save a lot of money and reduce your waste :-)
I never sewed pads myself, in Germany it's quite easy to get them for not too much money. But I found a great article with a lot of links to free sewing patterns! They also give hints for washing them properly.
