You know that I love coffee.
The sad news is, I have to break up with coffee for the time being. It sucks, it's miserable, and I have no idea how my life would be without caffeine, especially coffee. But I am doing it all for myself. If you are suffering from Acid Reflux, my story would perhaps resonate, and this information may help you alleviate your pain.

After languishing from excruciating pain for more than a week now, I notice that my health isn't recovering because I still eat high-fat and spicy meals paired with some cups of coffee. Oh, add chocolate and cheese into the mixture. It was just the perfect tornado for my body.
It was challenging to give up all the good stuff, but constant pain isn't fun. So, here I am today, taking measures and commitment to get healthier.
After learning about some trigger foods that I have, I researched then asked my physician about the food I can consume. Many of the foods that I like are off-limits, even including garlic. My physician also added that I could consume some low amounts, such as garlic, tomato, and orange. So, as long as I can add garlic to my cooking, I am OK with it.

But coffee, let's talk about that.
Giving up coffee is almost unimaginable for me. I have heard from friends that they are OK with caffeine pills and even instant coffee. I have yet to try, but I will after these stormy days passes. Hopefully, what they said is accurate; I could still get caffeine through other means, such as caffeine pills.

By now, I have spent more than 100 hours researching food that I can eat. So, here I am sharing some of my grocery lists that will probably give you an idea if you also have acid reflux. These are some of the alkaline ingredients that I try to incorporate into my meal.
Vegetables: Carrots, cucumbers, lettuce, celery, carrot, eggplant, leafy greens. Fruits: Apples, papaya, banana, watermelon,&melon Protein: Egg white, chicken, & Tofu, fish Spices: Ginger, turmeric, cumin, fennel & cinnamon bark.

Sample of What I eat
So basically, here is what I eat in a day to minimize the symptoms that I have.
For the note, I love snacking. So, I try to avoid greasy, high-fat snacks by swapping them with a healthier choice, such as steamed Tofu filled with steamed chicken.
Now, here is a day in my life recently:
Breakfast: Oatmeal with a banana smoothie
Lunch: Shabu Shabu Soup(low seasoning and non-spicy)/ clear soups.
Dinner: Grilled chicken with salads
Sometimes I also have lettuce wraps with steamed chicken, and I also avoid the yolk. I also add a little sugar to my cooking and drinks. Instead, I try to use organic honey.

How do you deal with caffeine cravings?
I deal with it by drinking herbal teas. I like turmeric, ginger, and also cinnamon tea. However, since tea is not triggering my acid reflux in a low amount, I still drink tea. I swap my coffee with matcha, green tea, also, flavored tea. It seems that a low amount of caffeine does not trigger my acid reflux.
With acid reflux, it is always about learning your triggers. When you know what triggers you the most, try to avoid it. Otherwise, you will only ask for a day full of suffering. I had to learn this the hard way. Also, next time, I will share what I try to order when dining out, especially with acid reflux problems. Since that's also important and quite a problem in my day-to-day life.
