Oftentimes when people start on this health path they ask me "does this mean I can never eat pasta, sushi, pizza or burgers again?" And I totally get it. Food is also pleasure and that also didn't change for me when I started this plant-based and raw food journey.
So, let's free you from those worries....
Eating more healthy foods can look different for everyone, depending on your health goals are and how quickly and deeply you want to dive into it.
- You don't have to shift your whole way of eating to see great improvements.
- You don't have to go fully vegan or even raw to increase your health power.
- You don't have to say goodbye to all your favorite meals
Yet, if you want to see greater and faster results, there are a lot of common foods that can hold you back. Luckily that doesn't mean you have to miss amazing flavors. Pizza in itself isn't the problem. Pasta isn't the problem and sushi is also not the problem.
It's the high fat, the dairy, gluten, excess salt, refined sugar or harmful by-products that are actually hurting us.
So you can totally still have pizza, pasta and sushi while transforming your health - as long as you make smarter versions of those dishes. Such as pizza with a veggie dough and low-fat plant-based cheese, gluten-free pasta out of zucchini noodles with an Italian tomato marinara, sushi out of cauliflower and veggies with a home-made spicy sauce.
Sounds boring to you? Wait till you try some really great recipes and you will soon want more of the healthy stuff.
Apart from that, our taste buds change so much along with our food choices.
What tastes just decent today, can become a real flavor explosion in a few weeks from now, once you begin to let go of more and more processed foods and transition to more fresh fruits and veggies. At the same time, certain foods like dairy have additive properties which is why we can feel like we need this in our life, but it actually just takes some time to break free from its effects.
For me, this healthy lifestyle has never been about restriction but rather opened myself up to even more flavors, delicious new creations and overall abundance with my daily meals.
