Hello friends and Hivers. Hope all of you are doing good today. I'm doing ok, still holding onto a bit of a cold still.Today I wanted to eat something other than get well food. I'll let you know up front, my body took it well 😊.
For lunch I went to a place called Culver's. I consider it a bit of an upscale Fast-food resteraunt. They are located mostly in the Mid-West part of the United States. There are other locations outside of the Mid-West though. It's original opening location is in Wisconsin. This place has a pretty wide menu and does feature things you would find in the Dairy State of Wisconsin.
It is well known for its butter burgers, frozen custard, and fried cheese curds. There butter burgers are different because they are deep fried. So the burgers have more of a crispy taste to them and because of that they are not your thick looking burgers. Its not something I have a lot of the times visiting here but there not bad tasting.
Alright the frozen custard comes in many different forms. You can get it in concrete mixer, scooped in a dish, waffle cone, sundaes, root beer float and yes you can buy and walk out with a pint size container of your favorite kind. If you didn't know custard is like ice cream but it includes eggs yolks where some ice cream doesn't. So custard has more of a dense, thicker and smooth texture.
Than there is the cheese curds. Wisconsin is well known for its dairy products and the cheese curds are one of them. Here at Culver's they use both the white and yellow cheddar cheese and bread them up and fry them. The breaded curd with an inner melted cheese is so good. Make sure you grab some ranch to dip them in. They are so good and in my opinion are much better than classic cheese balls which don't go through the curd process.
They have so many other things to choose from such as fried shrimp, chicken sandwiches, salads, soups, fried fish and a few more menu items. Unfortunately being sick I didn't get any custard nor some cheese curds. I didn't want to press my luck more than I already did by eating something fried.
I elected to get the North Atlantic Cod dinner. It came with crinkle cut french fries, coleslaw, battered cod filets with two slices of lemon, and a small bread roll. I had the choice of either the two piece or three piece. I went with the two piece because I know the 3 piece is a bit too much for me.
The fish was delicious and I'm not going lie it is as good if not better than any classy seafood restaurant. The batter they use is so tasty and crispy. The fish inside is hot, white and flaky. During Easter, they replace the cod with the fresh water walleye. Walleye is one of my favorites and I hit it up this place quite often on Fridays during the Easter season.
The crinkle cut french fries are served hot. They were good and it's hard to knock on french fries because they are difficult to mess up. Now the bread roll is ok and you can certainly tell it's not baked at the restaurant. The coleslaw was very mediocre it wasn't horrible but I have had better.
For a fast-food resteraunt this meal is fantastic. I have had it numerous times and the fish whether cod or walleye is always prepared perfectly. Sometimes I elect to get it in a sandwich. It's a little less food but the fish is still very tasty. I usually get cheese curds with the sandwich though.
HPUD & HPUM
A great change of months has happened.Out with November and in with December. The month of the fun and exciting holidays for the year is finally here. Hoping you all get to experience it in your own special way. Today being 1 December means one thing here, time to power up and increase our influence on the chain 😊
I had the goal of reaching 2,000 HP by the end of the year. I'm happy to say I have made that goal. November was a great month for me both here and in real life. I published 13 articles which is a lot for me. I also celebrated my birthday and spent time with family over the Thanksgiving Holiday here. A busy yet productive month for me.
This will be my tenth time participating in the Hive Power Up Day #HPUD. I'm proud to say since I started I haven't missed one yet. Another thing I have taken part in is Hive Power Up Month #HPUM. This I started in August and have completed every month. I'm also happy to power up another new user. It's something I have decided to do for 3 months now. I look for new aspiring writers that I don't know. This month I have selected @mariamhd to power up. I hope to see you gain momentum and be a good part of the chain :)
Here is my Power up for December. Glad to be able to move this amount and get a little bigger. Have you powered up today?
Thanks for stopping by and let's all enjoy this amazing month ahead. Take care, stay safe, and have a great weekend :)
