Yesterday, I had one of my sinful food cravings... LOL. I indulged in fried rice, milk tea, and some sweet treats! These kinds of cravings usually happen on weekends, probably because of the stress I go through during the weekdays. š
Although I sometimes have cravings during the week too, I usually manage to resist the temptation and stick to my diet plan. I think itās important to stay consistent because if I give in even once, it might break my routine and make it harder to stay on track.
That said, I canāt be too strict all the time... so I give myself a break on weekends. I think they call it a cheat day, right? If Iām not mistaken, thatās the day when youāre allowed to eat the āsinfulā foods or treats that arenāt exactly healthy if consumed too often.
So, yesterdayās lunch was fried rice with pork cutlet!
I had it at a hawker food center in the Kallang area. Itās located just across from Kallang MRT station and is very accessible. Itās not a huge hawker center, but I noticed one of the stalls had a wide variety of food options, so I decided to check out their menu.
I was quite surprised that theyāre able to manage such a large menu, especially considering there were only two staff members working during that shift. Maybe their busier hours are at night, which could explain it.
Now, about the food, I was really tempted to try the Mala fried rice version, but I chickened out a bit and just went for the regular fried rice with pork cutlet on top. Iām not very good with spicy food, let alone Mala, which is known not just for its intense chili flavor but also for its numbing sensation... hahaha!
The fried rice was nicely cooked, but I felt it lacked seasoning, something they could definitely improve on. As for the pork, it tasted good, but I think it was slightly overcooked since it was a bit chewier compared to others Iāve had before, even at the same price point.
Overall, it was a satisfying meal despite a few minor drawbacks. I still appreciate the convenience and variety that hawker centers like this one offer, especially when cravings hit. Looking forward to exploring more hidden food gems around the city, until the next cheat day adventure!
