If they can be processed into delicious food, why keep frying them. It so happens that I have old crackers at home, after buying them I forgot to fry them, because they were covered with other food ingredients. Oops hehehe. So when I tried to fry them, it turned out they weren't fluffy anymore. So I searched for a recipe on the internet, how to process old crackers, which when fried are no longer crispy. Well, I found these spicy seblak crackers. Do you know, it turns out that these seblak crackers are a viral food, oh my good, how come I didn't know! Hahaha.
After I found out about this viral food, I tried to make it. This viral food is made from various crackers and other additional ingredients, there are various flavors of seblak crackers: there are seblak crackers with gravy, dry seblak crackers, seblak noodle crackers, fried seblak crackers, and spicy seblak crackers. What I will make is spicy seblak crackers.
Basically, seblak is a typical food from one of the regions in Indonesia, more precisely Bandung, West Java. Seblak is also increasingly popular among culinary lovers, especially those who like spicy food, so it has spread to other regions and many have modified it with various other ingredients, such as these seblak crackers.
Seblak crackers are dry crackers that are soaked in hot water to get a soft texture, then seasoned with spicy spices consisting of chili, onions and galangal as the hallmark of seblak dishes.
These seblak crackers are not only easy to make but also taste very delicious, and are very suitable to eat when it rains or when relaxing and can be used as end-of-month snacks because the ingredients to make them are not expensive.
Ingredients needed:
- 150 grams of shrimp crackers
- 1 egg
- 3 curly red chilies
- 5 small red chilies
- 2 shallots
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1 segment of galangal
- 1 tbsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp flavoring (royco)
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 150 ml water
- 30 ml cooking oil for sauteing
How to make:
First: heat water until boiling. Boil the crackers until the texture is soft and tender. Remove and discard the water. Set aside

Second: prepare the chili, onion and galangal seasoning ingredients. Put them in a blender and puree.

Third: heat cooking oil. Pour in the spices and saute until fragrant, then add the eggs, stir well. Add water, wait until boiling. Add crackers, stir well. Add chili powder, flavoring and salt. Stir briefly and don't forget to correct the taste. Seblak is ready to be served.

My first seblak crackers are ready and ready to be served. Very easy, right! The taste is successful in making the tongue sway with a combination of chewy sensations from crackers and spicy savory, very appetizing and addictive for anyone who tries it. In addition, the distinctive aroma of kencur makes this dish even more complete and delicious, in my opinion seblak without kencur feels like something is missing, because the characteristic of seblak itself is kencur.
This food can be eaten by children too, but the amount of spiciness must be adjusted.
